There is a plant that our Navajo people use in many different ways.
A source of health, protection, food, shelter, cleansing… Sometimes our people call it "Cedar" but the proper name would be Juniper.
More robust than the common landscaping juniper bush. The juniper tree is central to the traditional way of life.
There are two types… the Male and the Female.

In this video we take to the outdoors and showcase one of the "Go To" Herbs. Some cultures might call it a "Cure All" of course we can't make any claims of the sort.
In fact We better point out... These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This plant is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
This plant is something that might seem like a weed to the world today. But for those who know it is something powerful.

Because speaking the negative thoughts would give them life where they would be sent out into the world.

There is a teaching among our Navajo people. It is said that contention is something that cannot go unresolved. If it does it will eventually destroy society.
In the traditional way even rudeness could not be tolerated.
If there was contention between clan families amends had to be made and peace returned.
The reason… you and those around you cannot be on the Beauty Way Path if there is contention.
Wally explains this in the video.

When most people think of their Mother-in-law they may not have those warm fuzzy feelings.
After watching this video those feelings may change.
See, in Navajo culture the in-laws are a protected class. The family rallies around them and makes sure they are not treated poorly.
The case of the Son-in-law and Mother-in-law the dynamic is interesting.
The two are never suppose to see each other. Some even say the mother-in-law would wear a bell so the son-in-law knew when she was around.

In the traditional teachings of our Diné they say there are certain times the Holy People are on the surface of Mother Earth. You might not ever see fog the same way again.
The teachings say that when there is fog the Holy People are near. The idea is... We (the Five-fingered Being) don't have the ability to see the Holy People. They are beyond our physical senses.
The fog, is perhaps symbolic. Symbolising that we cannot see them but they are near. The same idea goes for the rainbow. The unseen light can represent the Holy People. The light surrounds us but we cannot see it. Only the effects of it. And when it is fractured we can see the colors of the rainbow.

In this video Wally shares these teachings. There are not very many of these types of men. And as time goes on there are fewer and fewer.

Our Traditional Navajo people had a secret weapon: HONESTY.
It is a weapon that could not be seen or held in the hand. It is a weapon that couldn’t be bought or sold. But it is a weapon that is powerful. This weapon is the Traditional Navajo teaching of honesty.
According to Navajo Historian Wally Brown, honesty is the most important virtue in Navajo culture. It is the foundation on which all other virtues are built. And it is the key to unlocking a power that can protect and guide you on your life's journey.
What is this power? It is a power that is connected to the Holy People, the Navajo deities who created the world and continue to watch over it. When you are honest, you are living in harmony with the Holy People. And when you live in harmony with the Holy People, you are protected and guided by them.
This protection and guidance can take many forms. It may come in the form of good luck, good fortune, or even miracles. But whatever form it takes, it is a powerful force that can help you to achieve your goals and live a happy and fulfilling life.
If you are curious about the Navajo way of life, or if you are looking for a way to tap into a hidden power, then this video is for you.

The line between the U.S. Government and The Navajo Government is very thin. Was this by design?
When the treaty was signed there were many things that were promised. Those promises have turned into band aid solutions in the form of handouts.
This has led to a dangerous result… Navajo self-reliance is disappearing all together.
Instead the question our people ask is “Do it for me”. This runs against the traditional ways.
At the end of the day… is this all on purpose and is this where the rest of the country will head eventually?

There is a common misconception about the Navajo people... And that is that we worship animals or nature. This is not true.
There are also many questions about the Holy People. In this video, Wally shares about the Holy People. Starting with the Supreme being.
The one who carries the sun across the sky. The Father. He is always watching. The Supreme being gives his instructions to the Speaker of Peace. Who then gives instruction to “The Ones Who Speak Peace in The Home”.
There are others. Namely two women. White Shell Woman and Changing Woman. Many think these are the same people. But the stories say different. The two are together in the stories and refer to one another as sisters or cousins.
They are the Mothers of the two boys who are often called “The Hero Twins”. It is important to know they are actually cousins.

There is an evil that exists. It plagues society. It harms, hurts, hates, and haunts. For some reason people think they want to know more about it. But they don’t know what they want to know more about.
They don’t know the pain that is there.
To protect others our Navajo people avoid even speaking about this. But, people continue to ask.
To clarify and hopefully quench the curiosity… Wally shares what he feels people need to know and warns against seeking out such things as skinwalkers, demons, and witchcraft.

The "Anasazi" as anthropologists teach are given too much credit.
The only Anasazi were around present day chaco canyon.

In this thought-provoking video, Wally sheds light on traditional Navajo perspectives that challenge prevailing modern theories surrounding the Anasazi civilization.
While his narrative may diverge from mainstream beliefs, it is crucial to approach this sensitive topic with empathy and respect for all parties involved.
According to Navajo oral tradition, the Anasazi people migrated from the south and allegedly enslaved certain groups of Pueblo people residing in the vicinity of present-day Chaco Canyon.
The Diné, or Navajo, bear witness to these events and have preserved stories of this tumultuous period for over a millennium.
Wally introduces us to the Navajo's unique way of framing their history, emphasizing three distinct time periods: before the Anasazi, during the Anasazi, and after the Anasazi.
One particularly striking teaching Wally imparts is the belief that there are no direct descendants of the Anasazi due to their eventual demise. Instead, those who claim Anasazi ancestry today are considered descendants of escaped slaves.
These individuals, having successfully fled their captors, returned to their ancestral lands within the Pueblo areas of the Southwest. However, it is crucial to note that Wally's teachings emphasize that these people, while connected to the Anasazi through shared history, are not considered direct descendants of the ancient civilization.
As we explore this alternative perspective on the Anasazi civilization, it is important to approach these narratives with sensitivity and respect. It is essential to acknowledge the potential for differing viewpoints and interpretations, especially from the Pueblo people who may have a different understanding of their ancestry.
By fostering open dialogue and mutual understanding, we can enrich our appreciation for the diverse tapestry of Native American cultures and histories.
Join us on this enlightening journey as we explore the intricacies of Navajo history and the unique insights provided. Together, let's embrace the opportunity to broaden our understanding and foster a greater appreciation for the rich cultural heritage that unites us all.
