Don't Be Greedy… Take The Smaller Half. The Navajo Corn Lesson

In the traditional teachings of our Navajo people, there was a time when our people were newcomers to the Southwest.
When the Diné came from the east, they carried the white corn and the yellow corn. The people already living here, probably the Pueblo people, had blue corn and maroon corn our people had not seen.
Those people were generous and shared. They broke an ear of corn in half, and our people saw the bigger half and took it, thinking they were getting more. But it didn't produce much corn.
So the teaching is: take the smaller half. Don't be greedy. Don't be selfish. Don't be self-serving.
Wally also explains why corn is sacred, given to us by the Holy People, and encourages our young people to ask questions and learn from the elders who are still with us.
