In the traditional teachings of our Navajo people, a woman becomes a woman when she begins her monthly cycle.
But it’s different for a man.
A man is not a man.
He spends his entire life trying to live up to what he is taught at his coming-of-age ceremony.
If he does achieve that title… he likely won’t be around to know it.
It’s something that may not be spoken until he has gone to the next world, and his family says it about him when he is gone.
Perhaps there is less of this today.
Not every male will become a Man in the traditional teachings.
