Let Them Cry So They Can Have A Strong Voice and Song… Navajo Traditional Teachings

This video made free by our wonderful Warrior Producers. Learn More Here

In the traditional teachings of our Navajo people, the grandfathers would always council the mothers to let the baby cry.

But only the boy babies, they say, crying loud would give a strong voice.

The girl babies were comforted and special songs were sang to them.

The importance of songs and having a voice to sing the song is the traditional teaching.

Every Dine or five-fingered being needs to have a song. Songs have the ability to pull us from the dark places when other things fail.

Wally shares about how songs were sung by the elders when he was young and how they would encourage everyone to have a song.
