There are certain times that certain ceremonies can and can't be performed. That is why traditionally our Diné needed to know the moon cycles.
Today our Navajo people have adopted the 12 month calendar.
In this video Wally teaches about the moon cycles. Of course the moon cycles don't match up exactly with the months but they are close.
