In the traditional teachings of our Navajo people, it is taught that Black Yeii wanted to keep the fire to control the five-fingered being. But Coyote stole the fire and brought the five-fingered being out of the darkness.
These teachings are a great example of the deeper meaning of fire. The old people used to say that there is a fire inside of you: an emotional fire, an intellectual fire, a physical fire, and a spiritual fire.
The teaching is that you need to keep your fire going strong and let it bring light.
