Rena C. Whitehorse

March 1936 - September 2025

Rena was from Northern Arizona on the Navajo Nation.

She learned her craft at a young age, and it quickly became a passion. Her grandkids and kids would say anytime there was nothing to do, they could see her beading ghost beads... always making jewelry.

Rena shared her tradition with her daughters and granddaughters to create a rich family legacy. They will carry on her craft and share the tradition of Ghost Beads with the world.

Our Diné use these beads in the "Enemy Way" Ceremony.

Traditionally, our Diné say juniper beads provide protection against evil.

Also called "Ghost Beads" or "Juniper Berry" or "Cedar Beads"... these jewelry pieces are a staple of Our Navajo People.
