Ahead is Beauty

When they got to this place... they wept.

They prayed.

They offered corn pollen.

And some of them ate the dirt.

In this video we learn about our Navajo people returning from the prison camp at Fort Sumner, Bosque Redondo.

Our people were there for 4 years. Finally the peace treaty was signed and our people were allowed to return to a small portion of their original land.

The reservation has grown and is much larger than originally decided... but not as large as before.

On their way back... when they saw the red cliffs they knew they were almost home.

Overcome with emotion many fell on their faces and ate the dirt. They named this place "Ahead there is beauty".
