NAVAJO TEACHINGS: Is being a Warrior a Spiritual Matter?
In the traditional structure of our Navajo society... There are clan families. From each of these clan families come warriors.
These warriors were willing to do what was necessary to protect their family, their clan and their lands.
The act of war... taking the life of another or separating their spirit from their body and sending it into the Fourth World... was a spiritual act.
Women received warrior names. Their war is against hunger and thirst... anything that puts the family in jeopardy.
