Navajo Teachings: The Truth About Slavery

Traditionally, there are certain things that you cannot do and still remain Diné or Navajo.

Navajo Historian, Wally Brown, teaches about traditional beliefs on slavery.

There are many people today that believe every civilization practiced slavery. In the traditional teachings of our Diné there was no exception for this practice.

If Diné did, they would no longer be Diné. Some did break away because of this.

As our Diné rescued people and adopted them... they would change their clan.

This practice continues today as some people have many clans.
