Navajo Teachings: Water is life... Is it Still True?
Water is important in just about every corner of the world. And to Navajo people it is no different.
When our Diné first came into the Colorado Plateau they saw the snow capped mountains and called them the hills of water.
Navajo people use the direction of the rivers to describe the area. That is how important it is.
The Navajo clan system also has many clans named for water.
In modern times Dams are located all over Native American lands.
These waters back up on these lands and few native people have claim on the water.
