Traditional Diné Morals

Navajo Historian, Wally Brown, teaches about traditional morality.
The teaching of morals or sexual morality is generally reserved for more intimate settings with parents or grandparents.
Many Diné (older generation) may remember these teachings.
Today, these teachings are being forgotten. Many outsiders think that Native people didn’t address these issues. And instead embraced any type of appetite satisfaction. This is not the case.
Traditional teachings were very conservative in this department. Wally uses the words wedlock and marriage in the video. These concepts are as old as reproduction. And marriage existed among the Diné long before Europeans made their way to this part of the world.
Yes, Navajos did practice marriage traditionally and were counseled exercise control in these areas.
