Who Should Wear Ghost Beads
Navajo Ghost beads are available to everyone. They are literally a gift from nature. From the Juniper tree to you.
The tradition says they ward off evil and offer protection. Who doesn't need that?
Of course we can't prove the ability to ward off evil but many of our people from Navajo Code Talkers to School teachers share the same belief.
Anyone who wants that connection to culture, and earth is not only welcome to wear navajo ghost beads. To have this knowledge and not wear them... Would be a shame.
For anyone who feels that pull to Native American teachings, or that pull to the unique beauty of nature or the one looking for added protection from negative things in everyday life.

Juniper beads or Cedar beads--sometimes called "Ghost Beads"--are important to our Diné. Wally explains the beads in the video.
Why the Tradition Says Ghost Beads Ward Off Evil
There was a time among our people called the time of death or dying, when an unseen killer swept through Dinétah.
Illness and disease brought by the newcomers… the Spanish Conquistadors on their conquest through Navajo Land (Dinetah).
For our people it was a time they were visited by a great evil.
During that time it was discovered that those who consumed the juniper berry and drank tea from the juniper needles were less affected by the death that was sweeping across all the land.
The juniper tree has always been a staple among our navajo people. Used for building, cooking and now protection against an unseen evil.
Fast forward… Through modern science and lab testing we now know, the Juniper berry and needles are packed full of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and flavonoids.
These could have very well been the key to higher survival rates and recovery for those who survived the unseen evil (Sickness).
Our people saw them as a gift from the Holy People. Powerful medicine to ward off evil.
Today our people still see the Juniper bead as a way to ward off evil.
From School Teachers to Navajo Code talkers the Juniper berry affectionately called the “Ghost Bead” has been a powerful medicine to ward off evil.
That is why we still make, wear and share them the traditional way.
And that is why we still make them… wear them… and share them with the world.
Preserving our traditions by inviting anyone who feels drawn to them to wear the Ghost Beads too.
