All of our pieces listed as "Navajo Traditional Teachings Originals" are either made by Wally or his son Shane.
Wally was born an artist. He learned to Silversmith from his father and has enjoyed many forms of art throughout his life including singing, playing the guitar, painting, carving, silversmithing, beading, and much more.
Since 2016 after his stroke, he has lost most mobility in his left hand which has caused him to slow down in creating beautiful jewelry. It has also stirred the desire for him to teach his talents to his children.
Shane has inherited a lot of his artistic talents from his father and practices and learns new skills constantly. He finds Native American jewelry-making and other skills he has learned from his father very rewarding and loves sharing them with you.

Why the Tradition Says Ghost Beads Ward Off Evil
There was a time among our people called the time of death or dying, when an unseen killer swept through Dinétah.
Illness and disease brought by the newcomers… the Spanish Conquistadors on their conquest through Navajo Land (Dinetah).
For our people it was a time they were visited by a great evil.
During that time it was discovered that those who consumed the juniper berry and drank tea from the juniper needles were less affected by the death that was sweeping across all the land.
The juniper tree has always been a staple among our navajo people. Used for building, cooking and now protection against an unseen evil.
Fast forward… Through modern science and lab testing we now know, the Juniper berry and needles are packed full of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and flavonoids.
These could have very well been the key to higher survival rates and recovery for those who survived the unseen evil (Sickness).
