Every glance reveals something new in this beautifully eclectic necklace. Rich turquoise forms the foundation of the design, while carefully placed accents of vibrant coral, luminous shell, soft pink conch, deep blue lapis, glowing opalite, warm ghost beads, and delicate amethyst create unexpected moments of color throughout. The result is a 27-inch necklace that feels joyful, sophisticated, and entirely one of a kind—a piece that effortlessly becomes the focal point of whatever you wear.

What makes this necklace so captivating is the way each natural material contributes its own personality. Turquoise provides bold color and organic texture, while the corals introduce warmth and lively contrast. Mother of pearl, natural shell, and pink conch soften the palette with their gentle luster, while lapis and amethyst add depth in rich jewel tones. Opalite offers a subtle glow, ghost beads bring warm earthiness, and baby olive shell creates a quiet foundation that allows every colorful accent to feel intentional rather than overwhelming. Sterling silver finishes the design with understated refinement.

For generations, turquoise has remained one of the most celebrated materials in traditional Navajo jewelry, admired for its remarkable color and the individuality found in every stone. Thoughtfully combining turquoise with a variety of complementary natural materials creates a necklace that honors that tradition while celebrating the beauty that comes from contrast, texture, and careful craftsmanship. Every necklace is unique because nature never creates the same stone twice.

Created by Navajo artist Darlene Huskie, this necklace reflects nearly 30 years of experience creating jewelry that feels personal, balanced, and timeless. Having learned through her husband's family, Darlene thoughtfully selects and arranges each material with an artist's eye for harmony, allowing every stone and shell to contribute to a design that is both distinctive and easy to wear. The result is a necklace that feels like it has been collected over a lifetime rather than simply assembled.

Because authenticity matters, every turquoise piece from Navajo Traditional Teachings includes a Certificate of Authenticity. In a marketplace filled with imported imitations and misleading claims, you can wear your jewelry with confidence, knowing exactly who created it and where it came from.

Meet The Artist

Meet Darlene... Navajo Jewelry Artist

Darlene Huskie is a Navajo jewelry artist with nearly three decades of experience creating hand-strung turquoise necklaces and traditional Diné adornment. Taught within her husband’s family, she carries forward a lineage of beadwork that blends patience, precision, and cultural memory.

Working with turquoise, sterling silver, shell, and glass beads, Darlene carefully selects and arranges each element by hand, allowing color, balance, and natural beauty to guide every design. Her pieces are not mass-produced — each necklace is individually made, reflecting the quiet skill and steady hands of an artist who has spent a lifetime perfecting her craft.

Darlene is of the Nakai Diné Clan, and her work reflects the enduring Navajo tradition of jewelry as both personal adornment and cultural expression.
