Soft pastel hues give this necklace a fresh, elegant personality that feels both distinctive and timeless. Brilliant turquoise stones are paired with delicate violet shell accents, creating a beautiful interplay of vibrant blue and gentle lavender. Matching violet heishi brings the design together with subtle texture, while the generous length makes it perfect for layering or wearing as a graceful statement on its own.

The thoughtful combination of materials gives this necklace its unique charm. Turquoise provides rich color and organic character, with each stone displaying its own natural shape and matrix. Violet shell introduces a soft, luminous contrast that brightens the design without overpowering it, while coordinating violet heishi creates a smooth transition between each element. Sterling silver accents add a polished finish, allowing every material to complement the next with effortless balance.

Turquoise has long been admired in traditional Navajo jewelry for its natural beauty and individuality. Every stone tells its own story through unique colors and patterns, making each handcrafted necklace one of a kind. Combined with carefully selected natural shell, this design reflects an appreciation for materials whose beauty comes from their authenticity rather than uniformity.

Created by Navajo artist Darlene Huskie, this necklace reflects nearly 30 years of experience crafting jewelry with lasting appeal. Having learned through her husband's family, Darlene thoughtfully creates each piece with careful attention to harmony, proportion, and timeless style. Her designs are made to be enjoyed for years, blending traditional materials with an elegance that never feels tied to passing trends.

Because authenticity matters, every turquoise piece from Navajo Traditional Teachings includes a Certificate of Authenticity. In a marketplace filled with imported imitations and misleading claims, you can wear your jewelry with confidence, knowing exactly who created it and where it came from.

Meet The Artist

Meet Darlene... Navajo Jewelry Artist

Darlene Huskie is a Navajo jewelry artist with nearly three decades of experience creating hand-strung turquoise necklaces and traditional Diné adornment. Taught within her husband’s family, she carries forward a lineage of beadwork that blends patience, precision, and cultural memory.

Working with turquoise, sterling silver, shell, and glass beads, Darlene carefully selects and arranges each element by hand, allowing color, balance, and natural beauty to guide every design. Her pieces are not mass-produced — each necklace is individually made, reflecting the quiet skill and steady hands of an artist who has spent a lifetime perfecting her craft.

Darlene is of the Nakai Diné Clan, and her work reflects the enduring Navajo tradition of jewelry as both personal adornment and cultural expression.

Authentic Turquoise

With only 5 active turquoise mines left in the U.S.—led by the iconic Kingman Mine—much of today’s turquoise comes from past sources. Check the map… your piece may be rarer than you think.
